Thirty years leads to this. The Evolution story continues with an overhaul of an icon – the Evolution E-Type Steel Body. From a donor car arriving at our state-of-the-art facility in Newton Aycliffe, to an Evolution E-Type rolling out of our doors, the whole process takes over 4,000 hours of labour. Attention to detail is the benchmark of our coach-built exteriors, where all works are completed by hand in our state-of-the-art production facility. Once you have commissioned your vehicle, you will be safe in the knowledge that there will never be another like yours.
Modern power, analogue engagement. Over 500 hours of labour goes into developing the Evolution E-Type powertrain, giving modern power with analogue engagement. The process begins with a complete rebuild of the original engine from a Series I E-Type. Every part is upgraded and rebalanced with new parts, freshly machined to our exact specification in-house. The engine is stroked from its original 4.2L displacement to 4.7L, which, in combination with an upgrade to the vehicle software, culminates in a powertrain that looks and performs well in excess of the possibilities of a contemporary E-Type.
The Evolution E-Type is equipped with 6-piston front brake callipers developed in collaboration with a leading OEM brake manufacturer specifically for the Evolution Steel Body. The additional braking performance to generate stopping power that rivals modern performance cars and dominates its contemporary rivals. The Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) has been fully re-developed with the addition of an anti-tramp system, 4-pot internal brakes and a bespoke handbrake system. Newly cast hubs, sealed bearings and differential casing fabricated in-house in combination with a bespoke ALD differential complete the rear of the vehicle, providing the Evolution with razor-sharp responsiveness on the road.
The front suspension and wishbones is constructed with electroless nickel-plated steel. This suspension system is complemented with fully adjustable Nitron suspension, allowing our clients to easily adjust the rigidity, performance and comfort of their vehicle to suit their needs. The hubs are cast out of solid blocks, with one piece sealed in bearing pressed in to improve turning.
The Evolution Brake System comprises of 6-piston callipers in the front and 4-piston callipers in the rear, developed in collaboration with a major brake system manufacturer to our exact design and manufactured in the UK. These brakes are married to vented discs, allowing the Evolution E-Type Steel Body to turn and stop like a modern performance car.
Over 500 hours of labour goes into developing the Evolution E-Type powertrain to provide modern power with analogue engagement. The process begins with a complete rebuild of the original XK engine from a Series I E-Type. Only the head and block are retained from the donor engine, as every nut, bolt and component is upgraded and rebalanced to our exact specification and machined in-house. The engine is stroked from its original 3.8 Litre to 4.2 Litre, or 4.2 Litre to 4.7 Litre displacement depending on our clients specification.
A complete stainless steel exhaust system in the style of the original. The Evolution Exhaust System is designed and manufactured in-house from stainless steel, down to each individual nut and being made from stainless steel to bespoke measurements by our master craftsmen.
All Evolution E-Types feature a bespoke 5-speed gearbox designed and manufactured in-house. The outer casing is cast to the original design and dimensions so that it will still fit into any E-Type transmission. The casing is them machined to house a completely new 5 speed gear components design to the highest possible standards. Each gearbox is built to handle in excess of 400bhp, the required tolerances specific to the Evolution powertrain, and is geared to the requirements of each client.
In the cockpit, the Evolution E-Type Steel Body is a showcase of modern luxury housed in a period-accurate design. Our specialist team will develop your vision into an interior layout that is completely bespoke to your vehicle. Luxuriate in the natural grain leather and alcantara, artfully engineered gauges and modern finishes. The possibilities are endless.
To increase drive comfort further, Evolution offer a number of seat options, including comfort (an authentic recreation of the original E-Type seat), touring (a wider version of the original E-Type seat), or sport, a bespoke performance seat for the Evolution E-Type designed and fabricated in-house that offers an additional 50mm of headroom for the driver and additional bolstering.
The Evolution E-Type Steel Body embraces the benefits of modern technology whilst tastefully retaining the design elements of the original E-Type. Air conditioning, electric windows, heated windscreens and headlamp covers, variable power steering, DAB radio, satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity are just a selection of the optional specifications integral to an Evolution E-Type.
The Evolution Adjustable Power Steering (EAPS), which, given the wider wheels featured in the Low Drag, allows the customer to dial down the EAPS for ‘spirited’ driving to increase driver feedback, or dial up the EAPS for slow driving around town in order to maximise comfort. The inclusion of the EAPS also allows customers to opt for a smaller steering wheel, thus increasing room in the cabin and increasing driver comfort. The EAPS system is fully adjustable within the cabin via a dial in the centre console allowing for quick adjustments on the road to suit your environment.
